Sulfolane (Tetra Hydro Thiophene Dioxide)
Description
Sulfolane ZX-L5-01 has stable chemical properties and is resistant to reduction by metallic zinc, acetic acid or hydrochloric acid. It does not react with chemicals such as acids, sulfuric acid or dienes. Under normal conditions in the presence of acids and bases, it does not undergo polymerization or decomposition reactions. Even when sulfoxide is refluxized with potassium carbonate, potassium acetate, 25% sodium hydroxide aqueous solution or iron bars for 5 hours at reflux temperature, no reaction occurs.
Sulfoxide ZX-L5-01 is a highly polar solvent with excellent chemical and thermal stability. It is miscible with water and is a good solvent for most types of organic compounds and many common polymers.

Application
Chemical Properties of Sulfolane
The chemical property of sulfolane ZX-L5-01 is stable. It will be polymerizer or decompose in acid or alkali normal conditions.
It is low toxicity product, poisonousness going acutely through the mouth of big mouse is : LD50＞1900mg/kg. According to the standard of the international ocean shipping dangerous cargo regulation, sulfolane is not dangerous commodity and there is not pollution for ocean, so it can be transported as common commodity.
The character of Sulfolane
High purity: Do not contain Isopropyl sulfolane aether, 2-sulfolane can be below 0.04%.
Good appearance: it is nearly colorless, high antioxidation ability, the color can be kept well during stock and usage.
The Application of Sulfolane
Sulfolane ZX-L5-01 has high dissolving property and selectivity, so it is suitable for petrochemical industry. It is widely used as excellent solvent for aromatic extraction and removing sulphur from natural gas.
Sulfolane ZX-L5-01 is a multi-effective solvent with high purity and high boiling point, so it is suitable for chemical industry. This solvent can be used for halogenate, methylization, organic synthesis, condensation and polymerization reaction in the field of pharmaceutical chemicals, agricultural chemicals, dyestuff, perfume, special industrial plastic and some other chemicals.
Storage
A temperature of 60℃ (100-125℉)is recommended for storing the product. In closed containers ZX-L5-01 concentrate may be stored for at least two years.
Important: On bringing a tank back into service after prolonged storage at lower temperatures, the additive should first be heated and homogenized before use.
Packaging
The product is delivered in a Heated road tanker/tank container or 200L steel drums, or per clients' requests.
Safety and handling
The product is intended for technical use only. Avoid physical contact. Use gloves and goggles for protection. During transportation in road tankers the product is heated to temperatures up to 80℃ (175℉) may cause burns if spilled on the skin. Materials spilled on the skin should be washed off with soap and plenty of water. If splashed in the eye rinse with copious quantities of water. Keep containers closed when not in use. Avoid contact with water. Keep away from sparks and open flame. Do not smoke. Empty containers may hold gases that form explosive mixtures with air. Consult the Safety Data Sheet for further details.
